PNC Charitable Trust Awards Airlift Research Foundation $10,000 Grant

June 14, 2010 (Pittsburgh, PA) - The J.B. Finley Charitable Trust through the PNC Charitable Trust Grant Review Committee has awarded the Airlift Research Foundation of Pittsburgh a $10,000 grant for their outreach and awareness program.  The grant will enable the Airlift Research Foundation to educate the medical, military and veteran communities, as well as the public, about their mission to fund research and champion awareness that improves the care of military and civilian survivors of traumatic extremity injuries.

“The Airlift Research Foundation is grateful to the PNC Charitable Trust for their generous support,” said Dr. Susan Pressly Lephart, president of the Airlift Research Foundation. “Their contribution to our Outreach and Awareness program will significantly provide for the advancement of our mission to champion awareness that improves the care of military and civilian survivors of traumatic extremity injuries.”

This grant will provide funding for:

-         Production of a television public service announcement to educate about the organization and the need for research in the area of extremity trauma

-         Purchase of flip cameras to record the testimonials of wounded warriors

-         Production of a quarterly newsletter

-         Updates to the current website so it can serve as a resource to the medical, military and veteran communities as well as to those suffering with limb trauma

PNC Charitable Trust issued more than $4 million in grants in the fields of health, social services, education, religion, and the arts in 2009. The PNC Charitable Trust Grant Review Committee serves over sixty perpetual charitable trusts and private foundations for which PNC Bank, NA is trustee.  In accordance with the provisions of the trust agreements, the Committee funds grant requests that demonstrate a capacity and commitment to charitable service and enhance the quality of life for individuals and their communities.
